[MONROVIA, 02/28/2010] Fortune Fencing in Monrovia played host to the third of four epee events of the 2010 Socal Youth Challenge Season for Y10, Y12 and Y14 fencers. Nick and Spencer moved up to 1st and 3rd place on the season rankings.
In the Y14 age group Catherine, Samantha, Spencer and Nick competed in the field of 26 fencers. Catherine won one bout in pools, Samantha won two, while Spencer stayed undefeated with five victories, as did Nick with six victories. In the direct Elimination, Samantha (14th) fenced herself into the top 16 before losing to Nick, while Spencer (5th) advanced one round further. After beating Samantha, Nick (3rd) advanced one more round to the semis, securing the bronze.

These results put Nick in first place for the Season, and Spencer in 3rd among the 55 point getters.

In the Y10 age group Jacaranda was joined by Bruin and Hanna, who collected their first tournament experience. Hannah won one bout, while Bruin managed to win three, stating "It's just like practice, just with different people". Jacaranda won four 5 touch bouts, and ended up in 6th place.
