Paul on U20 U.S. Ranking
[02/13/2010, MEMPHIS, TN] Memphis, Tennessee, played host to the 2010 U.S. Junior Olympic Championships in fencing. Over the President's Day weekend, the best young fencers in the country of the U17 and U20 age groups fight for medals and national points in front of many college scouts.

Two of our own fencers were qualified for the U20 event in epee, which featured 208 competitors. Paul started the pool phase at 0.5 with three victories and a +2 indicator, while his younger brother Benjamin delivered almost identical stats. This earned both of them a bye in the first round of direct elimination.

While Benjamin was eliminated in a tough bout against New York standout Magnus Ferguson (12-15), Paul started a winning streak that carried him all the way to the top 32, thus guaranteeing him national points in that age group for the first time and qualifying him for July's U.S. Junior Championships in Atlanta, GA.

The final placements were 29th for Paul and a very respectable 97th place for Ben, who still fences in the Y14 age group.

Monday, both of them will fence in the U17 age group.

Congratulations and good luck from all of us!
